Telugu Motion Pictures and Drivers Union The Telugu Motion Pictures & TV Drivers Union, established in 1988 with just 25 members, has grown into a dedicated organization with over 1,000 members, playing a crucial role in the Telugu film and television industry. Initially operating from a roadside setup in Madras, the union quickly reached a milestone in 1991 by establishing its own office in Indra Nagar under the leadership of T. Prabhakar and with the support of esteemed heroes, directors, and producers. This expansion enabled the union to enhance its services, providing reliable transportation for film shoots, delivering equipment, and assisting actors and technical crews.
Committed to the welfare of its members, the union offers medical loans, educational support for children, Kalyana Lakshmi, as well as death and retirement benefits, ensuring financial security and well-being. It holds elections every two years to maintain responsive leadership, with B. Seetaram currently serving as President, M. Mahaboob Beig as General Secretary, and K. Venkateswarlu as Cashier. As one of the 24 crafts represented under the Film Federation in the Telugu film industry, the union safeguards its members’ interests, fosters collaboration, and contributes to industry growth. Officially registered under number B-1985, the union continues its 37-year legacy of dedication, efficiency, and reliability in serving the Indian film industry.

Welfare Initiatives

Beyond representation, the union is deeply committed to the welfare of its members and has implemented several key initiatives to provide financial security and support during challenging times:

  • Retirement Fund: A dedicated fund that ensures members are supported during their retirement years.
  • Membership Cancellation Fund: A safeguard to assist members in the event of unforeseen circumstances.
  • Death Benefit Fund: In the unfortunate event of a member’s death, the union provides generous financial support—exceeding 11 lakhs—to help the family during difficult times.
  • Educational Support for Children: To encourage academic excellence, the union offers a scholarship of 15,000 rupees per student to children of its members who achieve over 90% in their 10th-grade examinations, nurturing the educational aspirations of the next generation.
